Understanding your baby’s development milestones during the first six months

Early childhood is an important stage and a rapid period of development that forms the base for your baby’s future health and learning. The baby’s brain starts developing rapidly in the prenatal stage and continues even after birth. During the early childhood developmental phase, the environment plays a vital role in the growth and development of the brain and central nervous system. Studies have shown that babies who are exposed to good nutrition and sufficient psycho-social stimulation had noticeably better brain function than those bought up in a less stimulating environment.1

Developmental milestones are various things babies can do by a certain age. The way the babies play, move, speak, learn and act actually offers important signs about the baby’s development.2 In just six months you may realize that your baby has started to learn how to communicate.3
